Dr. Junrong Huo earned his Ph.D. in Earthquake Engineering from the Institute of Engineering Mechanics of the State Seismological Bureau in China and B. S. in Department of Engineering Mechanics, Dalian University of Technologies. He worked in Center for Earthquake Research and Information (CERI), The University of Memphis, as a post-doctor Research Associate, from 1992 to 1996.

Dr. Huo’s catastrophe modeling career began at RMS in 1996 and continued at EQECAT from 1998 to 2007, during which period he performed significant model development and consulting work across a wide variety of areas from hazard and vulnerability development to catastrophe bond risk analysis. From 2007-2009, he has worked at Tokio Marine Technologies as Chief Technical Consultant, performing evaluation of catastrophe models, development of a reinsurance pricing system based on multiple catastrophe models, and risk assessment for regions not covered by commercial catastrophe models; and most recently at GeoVera Insurance Company, where he served as the Director of the analytics group to lead performing exposure risk management, rate filing, and impact assessment in emergency response to catastrophe events.
Dr. Junrong Huo has re-joined EQECAT’s Model Development Group in the role of Group Manager in 2009. In his new role, he is involved in the development and maintenance of EQECAT's global suite of catastrophe |
