Giles Wiggs 英国牛津大学风沙地貌学教授，英国皇家地理学会会员和国际风沙科学学会（International Society for Aeolian Research）创始成员

 

主讲人简介：

Giles Wiggs英国牛津大学风沙地貌学教授。近30年来主要从事沙漠地区风沙运动观测研究以及沙漠治理工作，从野外观测、风洞试验以及环境模拟，获取了大量的数据，全面分析风成沉积物系统，揭示了沙丘动力学、风蚀过程、粉尘输移和沙粒起动等物理学机制，及其与环境演变、气候变化和人物活动之间的互馈关系。他在南部非洲、中东、北美、中亚和澳洲带队开展了大量的沙漠野外考察，主持参与了众多的科研项目，特别是在风沙野外观测和数据获取方面成果突出。

 

讲座简介：

1. Aeolian sand transport and desert dune dynamics. This will include field observations and modelling approaches at a range of scales from sediment transport to individual dunes to dune fields. It will cover the impact of turbulence and vegetation cover, and also highlight hazard issues.

2. Aeolian dust emissions: field measurements of dynamics and drivers in source areas. This will focus on unravelling the driving forces behind dust emissions in source areas and discuss issues of temporal and spatial variability, with an emphasis on work in southern Africa.
