With the 4th National Disaster Prevention and Reduction Day coming the way, ADREM organized the 2nd Cultural Festival of Disaster Prevention and Reduction.
On May 8th, 2012, Today·Tomorrow, the very first disaster prevention cartoon of China, made debut at the Jinji-Baihua Cinemaplex in Beijing. The cartoon is part of the “Safe China” disaster prevention campaign. Professor Wang Jing’ai attended the Debut Ceremony together with students and professors from ADREM. After the film, Professor Wang attended the China Disaster Workshop together with experts from disaster prevention and reduction and cinematography. The experts raised their valuable opinions on promoting disaster prevention campaign for children and creating favorable atmosphere for disaster awareness.
On May 9th, 2012, students and professors from ADREM went to the experimental kindergarten of BNU for showing the cartoon Today·Tomorrow to the kids. While watching the film the kids were very attentive and followed the actor in the film to go through earthquake, barrier lake, landslide, tsunami and other disasters, and learn the knowledge of prevention against disaster. At last, the kids interacted with the “Happy Bear” at the site by answering various questions related to disaster prevention and reduction. This greatly contributes to better campaign influence.
On May 11th, 2012, the 2nd Cultural Festival of Disaster Prevention and Reduction and the 1st Lecture was held in Yingdong Hall to celebrate the 110 Anniversary of BUN. Zheng Guoguang, Director General of China Meteorology Administration, was invited to give a presentation on “Highlight of Meteorological Disaster: Characteristic and Risk Management of Meteorological Disaster at Home and Abroad”. The Lecture is moderated by Professor Shi Peijun. During the Q&A session, teachers and students had heated discussion and interaction with Administrator Zheng on climate change, draught identification and control, and sharing of meteorological data.
Meanwhile, student representative of ADREM read out the initiative for all Chinese university students at the Opening Ceremony.
