ESPRE convened 2011 Annual Session of Academic Committee

On December 25, 2011, the Annual Session of ESPRE Academic Committee was convened in Room 314 of the main building, BNU. Academician An Zhisheng, Chairman of the Academic Committee, chaired the meeting at which 25 persons were present, including Academician Yao Tandong, Academician Qin Dahe, Academician Fu Bojie, Professor Liu Baoyuan, Professor Zhang Dayong, Researcher Tian Junliang, Researcher Li Xiubin, Professor Shi Peijun, Professor Yan Shidu, Director Zhou Wenneng of Division of Bases Administration, Basic Research Department of Ministry of Science and Technology, Director Gao Shangyu and Deputy Director Dai Ji of Science and Technology Division of BNU, and other research and management staff of ESPRE.

Firstly, Professor Shi Peijun delivered 2011 Annual Work Report, covering HR, scientific research projects, research results, contribution to the society, international exchange and large-scale equipment operation.

Major research staff also delivered speeches about research development in 2011. Zhao Fengsheng and Professor Li Zhanqing made report of Long-term impacts of aerosols on the vertical development of clouds and precipitation; Associate Professor talked about “response and adaptation of species/bio-system on environmental changes”; Professor Liu Baoyuan’s topic was “development and application of China’s soil erosion model” and Associate Wang Ming delivered report of “ripple spread complicated network model - exploration of characterization risk modeling method of disaster chain process.”

At last, experts gave recognition and encouragement to the improvements made in 2011, made recommendations and expressed their confidence in ESPRE’s future development. Director Shi Peijun thanked experts’ encouragement and suggestions on behalf of ESPRE, holding that ESPRE will listen to their suggestions, concentrate research direction, pay attention to the arrangement of overlapping disciplines, take care of young faculties’ development so as to try to increase ratio of input and output. At the same time, he also wished the experts good health and happy New Year.
