Volvo Environment Prize, commonly known as Nobel Prize in the field of environment and sustainable development, was awarded on November 3, 2011 in Stockholm, Swedish. Madam Lena Ek, Swedish Environmental Protection Minister, awarded the diploma to the winner Professor Hans Joachim "John" Schellinhube. The cash award of this year was 1.5 million Swedish francs (about US$ 240,000). A total of 300 famous politicians, scientists, social activists and entrepreneurs in the field from the world attended the event. As the Member of the Jury, and invited by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and Volvo Environment Prize Council, Professor Shi Peijun of ESPRE attended the event.
