On December 5, 2010, Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) organized check for ESPRE. The Department of Basic Research of MOST sent expert team to check. Led by Academician Qin Dahe of China Meteorological Administration/State Key Laboratory of Cryospheric Sciences, the expert team was composed of Researcher Li Xiubin from Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Professor Ma Fang from Harbin Institute of Technology/State Key Laboratory of Urban Water Resource and Environment, Researcher Xu Hua from Institute of Soil Science, CAS/State Key Laboratory of Soil and Sustainable Agriculture, Researcher Fengqi from Cold and Arid Regions Environmental and Engineering Research Institute, CAS/ State Key Laboratory of Frozen Soil Engineering, Professor Du Guozhen from School of Life Science, Lanzhou University and Professor Song Weining from College of Agronomy, Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Director Zhou Wenneng of the Department of Basic Research of MOST, Deputy Director Wu Gen of Division of Bases Administration and Director Ming Ju of the Department of Science and Technology of Ministry of Education attended the event as well.

Experts examined the lab and held discussion with scientists and entities that back their research. The expert group unanimously approved the lab for its remarkable progress in scientific research, human resources development and management.
