From October 29 to 30, 2010, Professor Shi Peijun and Associate Professor Wang Ming went to Nanyang Technological University for academic visit and exchange, also discussed mode of cooperation methods and identified research topics.

As IRG Chairman of IHDP, Professor Shi signed Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with TC Pan, President of Nanyang Technological University and President of Catastrophe Risk Management Research Institute, and officially announced the set up of the South Asia regional office of the project in Catastrophe Risk Management Research Institute of Nanyang Technological University. The office would be responsible for setting up South Asia risk research network, and launching scientific research and academic activities within the framework of IRG to promote disaster risk reduction and governance research and practice. This is the 3rd IRG regional office after the two in Beijing and Germany. At the same time, two cooperation research projects were identified, namely “earthquake proof consolidation technology and demonstration of non-engineering designed residential buildings in rural areas” and “modeling and assessment of disaster causing reasons and processes of flood and mudslide disaster chain.
