On October 28, 2010, on the annual conference of China Geological Information Industry held in Xi’an, China Geological Information Association granted prize of “special contributor to provide GIS service for Yushu earthquake reduction” to BNU.

Professor Wu Lixin from ADREM and ESPRE accepted the prize on behalf of BNU. His team provided GIS service in Qinhai Yushu earthquake reduction efforts, developed earthquake intensity maps, quickly evaluated disaster situation, set up vulnerability matrix for houses in Jiegu town, and conducted 3 dimensional visualized analyses so as to provide reference for disaster reduction efforts.
