Professor Shi Peijun and Associate Professor Wang Ming visited U.S. and signed Memorandum of Cooperation

From September 8-16, 2010, Professor Shi Peijun and Associate Professor Wang Ming visited University of Colorado, University of Florida, Arizona State University, Greencastle of Kansas, and Risk Management Solutions (RMS) for academic exchange, cooperation and scientific investigation.

Professor Shi, on behalf of BNU, signed Memorandum of Cooperation with University of Colorado and draft of Memorandum of Cooperation with Arizona State University, aiming to strengthen academic exchange among students and faculties, cooperation of similar disciplines and building of feature disciplines.

From September 9 to 10, Professor Shi Peijun and Associate Professor Wang Ming participated in Chinese Forum held by University of Colorado. Professor Shi were invited to take part in the forum of “Sino-US Climate Change Challenges” and delivered a report.

From September 11 to 12, Professor Shi Peijun and Associate Professor Wang Ming went to Greencastle for post-disaster recovery investigation. Accompanied by Mayor Dick, they visited schools, hospitals, wind power generation station as well as residential areas and talked about new community disaster reduction model of “reconstruction and re-development”.

From September 13 to 15, Professor Shi Peijun and Associate Professor Wang Ming completed field investigation in US western desert region and discussed cooperation in rapid assessment of disaster losses, agricultural risk model as well as risk map in RMS company. This was an important step to carry out planned cooperation after signing tri-party Memorandum of Cooperation among ADREM, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore and RMS on August 17, 2010.
