The 1st Seminar on Establishing Tri-party Cooperation Partnership on Disaster Risk in Asia among China, Singapore, and US was held successfully

From August 16-17, 2010, Seminar on Tri-party Cooperation Partnership among ESPRE, Institute of Disaster Risk Management of Nanyang Institute of Technology (NTI) and US RMS Company was held in Jingshi Building. Head of NTI’s Engineering School Professor TC. Pan, Founder of RMS Professor Heresh Shah, and Doctor Dong Weimin, Executive Deputy President Professor Shi Peijun, and faculties from ESPRE and Academy of Disaster Reduction and Emergency Management under Ministry of Civil Affairs and Ministry of Education attended the seminar. The seminar was to establish a core force in disaster risk research and application through long-term cooperation among the three parties so as to better combine the risk theory and practice to serve for Asian countries and people. On the seminar, the three parties signed MOU after reaching consensus on the objectives, directions and forms of cooperation. Meanwhile, the attendees identified cooperation projects of agricultural risk quantification and insurance assessment method and disaster risk governance training program. After the seminar, foreign representatives visited ESPRE’s comprehensive experimental base in Fang Shan District of Beijing.
