“International Seminar on Application of Agricultural Statistics and Remote Sensing” was held successfully

From July 19-20, 2010, sponsored by National Bureau of Statistics and BNU and organized by ESPRE, College of Resources Sciences and Technology of BNU and Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, International Seminar on Application of Agricultural Statistics and Remote Sensing was held successfully in BNU. Nearly 40 officials and experts from National Bureau of Statistics, US Ministry of Agriculture, Statistics Office of South Korea, Ministry of Science and Technology, National Remote Sensing Center of China, BNU, Institute of Remote Sensing of CAS, Chinese Academy of Chemistry, Zhe Jiang University, Nan Jing University, Nan Jing Norman University and Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences attended the seminar. Centering on the theme of the status quo and development of crop area estimation and yield estimation using remote sensing and statistics,, officials and experts present delivered wonderful speeches and launched discussions.
     
 
Deputy Director General Mr. Zhao Jianhua from Department of Agricultural Social Economic Investigation of NBS chaired the seminar. Director General Zhang Shuying of the same department and Vice President Ge Jianping of BNU delivered welcome speeches. On the conference, Director Wei Ge from Agricultural Department of NBS made a key note speech on the sample investigation system of farm produce productivity. Researcher Zhou Qingbo from Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning, Professor Pan Yaozhong from BNU, Researcher Chen Zhongxin from Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences delivered reports on the sample method of crop area, the technical system of measuring crop yield acreage using remote sensing and statistics and the technical system of monitoring and estimating productivity using remote sensing and statistics. Mr. Mark Harris, Director of National Agricultural Statistics Service under American Ministry of Agriculture delivered a speech about agricultural investigation technology. Official Mr. Park Jaehwa and Assistant Officer Choi Kiyoung from Office of Agriculture and Fishery of South Korean Statistic Department made a speech on the application of remote sensing in agricultural statistics. Officials and experts conducted in-depth discussion on and communication of the status quo, potential and future development of applying remote sensing and statistics in agriculture.
