ESPRE Lab Attending the Second Session of OECD International Conference on Financial Management under Catastrophes

Upon invitation from the International Network for Financial Management under catastrophes of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Associate Professor Wang Ming of the Integrated Risk Management Institute, ESPRE Lab, who represents Professor Shi Peijun, director of ESPRE Lab, attends the second session of OECD international conference on financial management under catastrophes which is held in Bangkok, Thailand from September 24th to 25th, 2009.

 

The conference sums up experiences, lessons and progresses gained by each country since the Southeast Asian tsunami, and discusses on new threats of global warming and prevention measures to be taken. The conference also has an in-depth discuss on various problems including disaster education, disaster map, risk assessment, risk modeling, catastrophe insurance and bonds among others. Representatives from each country argue and discuss about the strategy of integrated risk management from the governmental aspect.

 

During the conference, Associate Professor Wang Ming, by representing Professor Shi Peijun, makes a report with the subject of Compilation of Disaster Risk Maps and Their Application in Integrated Risk Governance, and attends the discussion meeting. After the conference, Wang exchange his views and suggestions on cooperation of catastrophe insurance research projects with the OECD International Network for Financial Management under catastrophes.
