The 2009 Gordon Research Conference on Population Biology of Microorganisms is held in Andover, New Hampshire, USA from July 19^th to 24^th, 2009. Mr. Zhang Quanguo, teacher of the ESPRE Lab of BNU attends this meeting.

The Gordon Research series meetings are successful representatives of academic conferences run by business operations. The conference on Population Biology of Microorganisms among the series meetings which is held every two years since 1985 has the most influence over the circle of microorganism biology and evolution biology. The topics of this year cover evolution of infectious diseases, adaptive landscape and community dynamics, etc. More than 100 representatives attend the meeting, including some famous ecologists and evolution biologists such as Graham Bell, James Bull, Tony Dean, Nelson Hairston, Paul Rainey, Paul Turnner, and Stuart West among others. Activities of the meeting include 5 days’ lectures, free discussion, wall newspaper exhibition, and election of the vice president for the next session. Thanks to the longtime group discussion and close exchange environment, participants have fully and freely discussed all questions they are interested in, and exchanged many unpublished research findings.

During the conference, Teacher Zhang submits his wall newspaper named “Host-Parasite Coevolution and Species Coexistence”, and has in-depth discussion with some experts.
