News Title: International workshop on the human-earth system dynamics and modeling

2017-11-21

Climate change exerts great influences on hydrological cycle, terrestrial biosphere, and cryosphere and has far-reaching impacts on global and regional environment and sustainable development. To deepen our understanding of the dynamics of human activity and Earth system interactions, we need to develop bi-directional models that couple Earth system models and socioeconomic models, a tremendously challenging research area facing the international modelling community. We plan to organize a workshop aimed at bringing scientists around the world to hold in-depth discussions of the current status of the human-Earth system studies and explore future research directions. The workshop will focus on the following topical areas:

We plan to organize a workshop aimed at bringing scientists around the world to hold in-depth discussions of the current status of the human-Earth system studies and explore future research directions. The workshop will focus on the following topical areas:

  1. 1. Earth surface system modeling and land-use and land-cover change (LUCC)
  2. 2. Dynamics of human activity-Earth system interactions
  3. 3. Bi-directional coupling of Earth system models and socioeconomic models
